He did not lie, and the activities of the first day of the Convention were cut way back.  All of the Govenors of states likely to be affected were not going to be there.

He didn't lie.  He was anticipating based on past experience.  I can understand as a liberal any future thought is a foreign concept, but real people in the real world use it quite a bit. .
