Why did McCain pass over so many better-qualified Republican women?

Why did McCain pass up all these women to select a virtual unknown with less than two years in office -- and a person he'd only ever talked to twice!!

Was he pressured by party to pick a fundamentalist Christian?

Was it her looks?

Or was it something else?

What is it with people thinking that a senator who doesn't have to make any kind of decision at all on their own is more qualified than a governor that has an 80% approval rating, who understands very well the energy problem that our country faces and actually wants to do something about it, etc. She is very well qualified actually.

As for her length of service I suppose it depends on what you are looking at. She may only be in her second year as governor, but she has served in public office for a lot longer than that, and people should stop discounting that experience.  There is a lot more than time in office that matters.

As far as being unknown I think that is refreshing.  Although I would bet that most people know little or nothing about the women you sited in your question either, so what you are really talking about is name recognition.  When you consider that, are they really all that more qualified?

John McCain didn't pick her for any reason other than she was the one he wanted.  He has no record of being able to be pressured into anything; and as far as how many times he talked to her, I doubt very much that any of us are really qualified to say one way or the other how many times or for how long they have talked to one another.
