Why did McCain snub General Petraeus as a potential VP pick in favor of Sarah Palin?

Is McCain actually trying to convince the American people that Sarah Palin is more experienced and qualified to be commander-in-chief of our armed forces on day one than General David Petraeus, who made the surge work and led our troops to victory in Iraq?

It's LAUGHABLE that the republicans would be telling us about how experience matters and 'knowing someone' matters, and then send out this complete unknown candidate with FAR LESS elected experience than even Obama. This is what is known as 'true colors shining through'.

This move is incredibly transparent and the motives are anything but about what is best for the country. That alone should be extremely troubling to any American.

Umm because generals as presidents have almost always been p**s poor. And david petraeus is an arm chair general, not one with real close details of combat experience.

Palin has a variety of experience.  Patreus is a specialist. By the way Palin is commander of the Alaska National Guard as part of her duties as governor of Alaska.

General Petraeus is needed where he is - and McCain knows that. He's in Iraq, leading the way for our troops to come home - why would anyone want to take him away from that to be VP?
