Why did Michael Spinks have problems with Eddie Davis?

i didn't see that one, but two judges scored it for spinks by a wide margin, one judge had it close, so maybe it was a tough fight to score.

maybe he underestimated davis because qawi stopped him 2 years earlier,

I saw that fight and though Davis never hurt Spinks, he confused him all night.  I actually thought that Davis deserved the decision although he couldn't break an egg with his punch.  The reason he gave Spinks so much trouble was because of his awkward style.  I really think the judges were way off with their scorecards that night to say the least.  Spinks was terrible against the tricky Davis.
