Why did Nancy Pelosi censor posters of troops?

Excerpts:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-S.F., has done something worse than commit a crime against the First Amendment. The speaker's censorship of nonobtrusive posters featuring men and women who gave that last full measure of devotion in service to their country is a blunder that could alienate 23 million veterans and their families from the Democratic Party. If she is endowed with a crumb of constitutional or political sense, she will reverse course.

The tale of Pelosi's folly begins with Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C. He wished to pay tribute to the service members of Camp Lejeune who had been killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. Accordingly, Walter placed a poster flat against the wall in the corridor outside his office showing their names and pictures.

  1. there are no words that I as a Christian can use to explain just how I feel about the job Nancy Pelosi (princes want to be) has done or to be more accurate not done...

the people saying that the caskets should be splattered all over the news have no clue how that would make the families feel or don't care how it would make the families feel either way its a sad day when people want to post pictures of our fallen soldiers caskets to make their point more credible...my son has been in Iraq and will be headed back in September my son-in-law is there right now...I implore these people to leave the fallen soldiers and their families in peace...again if it takes a picture of a fallen solders casket to make their point they haven't much of a point...

    always nosnod

  2. Is that like Bushco banning photographs of the coffins of dead soldiers?

  3. So much for San Francisco being anti-military.  Who knows what her motivations are.  I've been unable to figure them out since she got the job majority leader.  The good news is that she's retiring soon.  It won't be soon enough for me.  And you cons will have Speaker Clinton to look forward to.

  4. Because she is a commie? And anyway... isn't she from San Francisco (enough said there)?

And besides... from the looks of the article it looked the like guy was just paying tribute to the fallen, not protesting... :/

stupid govenmental officials... where was it in their lifetime that their heart and common sense was destroyed... :/

  5. There is a big difference between not showing coffins returning from battle and placing pictures of military on a poster to honor them.  The coffins were not shown out of respect for the family members.  The poster was made with permission from the family members to honor their lost loved ones.  Pelosi is an air-head who doesn't have a clue.  She grandstands about the most trivial things (which are none of her business) and ignores the important things, like the energy plan, which is supposed to BE her business.  Can't wait until she is gone.

  6. Because she is a Stalinist tyrant who does not tolerate any differences of opinion. Just like she won't allow a simple up-or-down vote on offshore drilling because she knows that she won't get the outcome that she wants.

Thank San Fran Gran Nan, who claims to be doing everything 'for the children,' is taking a page out of Mein Kampf where Hitler stated that if the government can get control of the children, it can take over. She also wants to re-instate the misnamed 'fairness doctrine' because she wants to shut up talk radio, which is overwhelmingly conservative.

There is nothing democratic about the Democrat party.

  7. Pelosi is insane about everything she does ,she was suppose to impeach Bush not just act like a Idiot!!!!!

  8. She just likes to live her motto WWSD: What Would Stalin Do?

  9. its what dictators do.

  10. It goes hand and hand with Bush's censoring of the flag draped bodies arriving at Dover AFB.

    Neither of it is correct.

  11. Good question! I was wondering about a similar issue the other day- Bush censored the images of caskets coming back from Iraq. To me, that is every bit as disrespectful to the men and women in uniform who lost their lives at war for the U.S. Maybe someday soon it will all be over.

  12. Pelosi is Liberal. Is there anything else that needs to be said. Liberal moto, HATE EVERYTHING THAT MAKES AMERICA STRONG THEN DESTROY IT.

  13. There are both potentially good and bad reasons. Who knows? I don't much like her myself either. She's definitely proven herself to be quite a useless old bag.

Anyway, why can't you be this adamant about other important things, like the patriot act? wasted talent is a tragedy.

  14. Is there no end to the evil that woman has visited upon us?

How much worse will it be if that person she supports is elected President?

  15. It has caused a large stink here in NC where there are so many military bases!

And for "Rimjob" and "Forget War, Buy More", try a history lesson before looking stupid and blaming President Bush for the ban of flag draped caskets of our Servicemen/women. President Bush did NOT start the ban, he just agrees with the ban set out by the Defense Department in 1991, long before President Bush was in office.

  16. Pelosi doesn't want heroes pictures shown. It is against Democrat policy. The only pictures Democrats want, in fact ghoulishly drool over getting, are pictures of flag draped coffins. Reminiscent of the pictures of those coming home during the Vietnam war.

This is the first war without heroes. There have been 5 medal of honor winners out of this war so far. Did ABC, NBC, CBS, cover any? No.

The Democrat Party wanted a defeat in this war because it was their path to power. They have done everything in their power to accomplish it.

Why we should Thank Obama for going to Iraq because with that visit half of America learned for the first time that this war was all but won.

  17. Actually, Bush banned the pictures of the coffns while they are in US government custody to respect the privacy of the families. There is nothing to prevent a family from inviting the media to funerals our memorial services. That puts the control of the situation in the hands of private citizens and out of the hands of reporters which are respected much less than President Bush in polls and just ahead of Pelosi's House.

  18. Somebody get that broad a sandwich.  I think it's malnutrition.  I do nutty things when I'm hungry too.

  19. That woman is just such a female dog.   I know San Francisco is super liberal but I am sure they must have someone they could elect that has a heart and a brain.  She certainly appears to have neither.

  20. Chances are, she felt as though she was upholding the rules, but I don't know...an ulterior motive on her part wouldn't surprise me at all.  despite my liberal leanings, I can not stand Pelosi.  She has been entirely ineffective since taking over in 2006.

It'd be interesting to see who it was that instated those rules in 1999 and what the poster in question looked like, to get a better idea of how they were meant to be interpreted, but it seems like this was an unnecessary move on her part.

frankly, she should be more concerned with getting things done inside congress, rather than in its hallways.
