Why did Norm McDonald tell old-fashioned jokes at the Roast of Bob Saget?

Was it an elaborate hoax or is he practicing for a role in some upcoming movie?

Why are some people so bloody stupid? Norm went up there & read a bunch of silly, simple, old jokes on purpose as a joke. He read them in a sly, ironic, inside joke manner. In that Norm McDonald kind of manner. The jokes were so old, simplistic & corny it was hilarious. Unless your a boob who just doesn't get it. It was the funnies part of the roast!

Intentionally bombing--that was his act. Myself and several people I knew found it to be the funniest part of the roast. His timing was excellent.

Because the guy is an idiot. I can't believe people ever liked him. Even if it was an act, HELLO, you're at a ROAST, not doing stand up at the local childrens' hospital.
