Why did Obama fail to register with the Selective Service ?

Registering is the LAW, when you turn 18 years of age. Did Obama forget. John McCain did not forget. Now really, who is the shake down artist that is suffering from Alzheimers?

Because there is no draft, many 18 year old let it slide on by.

Many of them don't know about it until they apply for student aid, where it is a requirement for it.

Well....unless the laws changed, my sons didn't register, the Govt automatically did it for them when they turned 18. Sent a letter, a card with their selective service number on it and that was that....

Obama wasn't required to register for the draft.  He was born in 1961 and draft ended in 1973.

Could be he was thinking those born in Kenya or nationalized in Indonesia aren't required to.

In fairness to Obama and I am no fan, I think when he turned 18 it was not yet the law. I could be wrong but I suspect that is the reason.

The draft stopped in 1973, I was number 124 my senior year in High School and missed Nam. Obama was not old enough.
