Why did Obama not come under fire for his racist comment?

When Hillary made an accidental comment about her Bosnia trip, news agencies wouldn't get off her back about it. But when Obama said his grandmother is "a typical white person," no one seemed to care. Why? Is that what politics has come to? Selective insulting?

It was blown out of proportion on the news everyday for a good month after that speech until they found something else trivial to talk about.
