Why did Palin (Not Obama) release the news about her daughter?

Although I am for Obama-Biden, I can't for the life of me understand how this is relevant and why she released it. Parents do the best they can and some children are head strong and won't listen. It's in keeping with her position of pro-life. She didn't try and get her to have an abortion.

Because she was trying to beat the demogods before they made a mountain out of a mole hill as usual. It was a way of clearing the air before it became polluted.Sarah did the best she could with what she had & her daughter is doing the right thing - some people (not you) just can't stand that even when it's genuine. Hey, guess what? There are still some people out there that practice what they preach & not use politics as a personal microphone. I agree, not relevant to the campaign or the real issues.

It was John McCain who released it actually.  And it was becuase lib bloggers were spreading teh slander all over the internet.

She knew it was coming ... and was considerably pro-active ... I think the wrath would have been a little harsher if she would have waited ...

because they were dragging her daughter thru the mud over the birth of her brother...i mean dont you think she just beat him to the punch..and quite frankly im glad she did...why be ashamed of it..if she truly wanted to hide it she would have did just that..denied it until after the elections but at least she is the bigger person...he has lied about all of his past..her is front and center

Its called beating the media and the opposition 2 the punch, instead of it looking like shes hiding something or waivering, she now looks credible and fourth right.

She did it to counteract the rumors that her baby was actually her daughters child  (like a hidden secret).  I guess she just got tired of the false accusations.....
