Why did Palin and the McCain Campaign allow her to lie to the American voters?

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and her Republican supporters held back little Wednesday as they issued dismissive attacks on Barack Obama and flattering praise on her credentials to be vice president. In some cases, the reproach and the praise stretched the truth.

Some examples:

PALIN: "I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending ... and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress 'thanks but no thanks' for that Bridge to Nowhere."

THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million. In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport, that opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a "bridge to nowhere."

  1.   They have been lying for so long, they probably don't even know they are doing it. I don't even blame them anymore, kind of like when a lion attacks his handler, you know it's going to happen so you always have to pay attention, it's just the nature of the beast.

  2. She didnt lie.  She did veto wasteful spending as governor.  She simply changed her mind ont he bridge once she figured out that it was generally looked down upon.  Chalk that up to inexperience.  It was her first year as governor that she made her mistakes.  Once she realized what she was doing, she made better choices.

I dont know if you noticed but yahoo news is not even close to non-patisan.  They lean heavily to the left.  I'm prolly getting deleted for saying this(leftists love to moderate every aspect of our lives), but I mostly refuse to read anything on yahoo news because it is spun so bad.  It just compromises the integrity of the site and the reporters.

  3. They were not abuses of earmark spending.

  4. There's plenty of time for the facts to come out.

Republicans are hoping to get their base out to vote to win, clear there is no intention to sway moderates. That strategy worked in 2004, but it's unlikely to work this time. Ohio is now polling for Democrats,  the state Bush got to give him victory in 2004.

  5. i agree with you i posted that article on yahoo too she lied so much last night i'm not sure her name is really Sarah

    Obama'08

  6. And that would make her different from all the others in this race, how?

  7. This is a GREAT article and shows what a LIAR she and the entire republican party is!!

  8. And did you expect them to let her tell the truth? That she has clawed her way to power using the most dubious tactics known to politics, has shady financial deals in her CV and likes to butcher endangered species? (polar bears, not caribou so don't get excited)

Palin is there to appeal not to the women who didn't get Hillary. She is there to be a redneck's wet dream. She will get millions of uneducated, discontented blue collar men to vote for the first time in years. She uses her quite significant sexual allure beautifully with such men. How do you think she won the governorship?

She is a worry. Because she attracts the opposite kind of voter from Obama. The kind that don't usually vote and will only come out for her.

    How does Obama counter that?
