Do the missile interceptors benefit Poland?

They rejected it at first and said they needed billions more US tax payer dollars in return for allowing the interceptors.

I can't post a link because Yahoo won't let the question through if I do.

  1. Come on, do you really think polish kamakaze pidgeons with fire crackers can stop a Russian Missile?

Actually, no the missile defense system will not benefit Poland. Russians won't detonate a nuclear war head a few miles from Moscow and other Russian cities.

Poland is in danger of a land invasion from Russia rather than being a nuclear target. That is why they want US defense troops, but don't need or want anti nuclear weapons on their soil.

The missile defense system would benefit the US because it is so close to Russia, that it would give the US two chances at downing the IBM's. Once when they first take off and again when they approach the US.

Poland has really good cards right now, and they are trying to play their hand to win the biggest pot they can.

  2. Very true. Most Poles don't want missile shields on their soil. It only exposes them to danger. With today's volatile world, imagine if a US-Russia military confrontation is triggered by an event in a far-away land (in Asia, for example). Poland will be greatly affected by it, no matter how far it is from them. Only the Polish government leadership agreed to have the missile shields, obviously for monetary reasons.
