  1. we are going to need a lot more recruits if we get into another war. which brings the idea of the draft! we'll we have to declare war on them before we attack them other wise we will look like cowards. and we are better than that

  2. No one except the Iraqis were willing to fight the powerful US over the relatively insignificant Iraq. And no one except the Georgians are willing to fight the powerful Russians over relatively insignificant Georgia.

  3. We dont want world war III or a nuclear winter.

  4. Um you have to thinks about the comparisons, first of all, helping Georgia isn't that simple, as much as i am for helping the peace, Russia is a super power with a close size to America, like China. If you launch to help Georgia, then you would open a can of worms. The problems with Georgia and Russia have different specifications than Kuwait and Saddam, anyway there are alot of countries that are being treated unfairly treated and the U.S isnt jumping to help them.

  5. We have to be very careful in this situation.  First off, we are over-extended in Iraq and Afghanistan.  It would take a while to re-deploy.  We currently don't have the man-power for an immediate response.  Second, Russia is not some cheap-world third country that is easy to invade.  They have nukes.  We need a President that is going to use his brains here.  I don't know if Bush is our guy.  Luckily, because we are in no position to attack right away, it is giving some extra time for some strategy here, whether Washington likes it or not.  We can't afford any more mistakes from our Executive Branch, especially with a country like Russia.

  6. You are mistaken friend. The US is helping our alli. We are not attacking Russia because they have nuclear weapons. Yeah, that's why. Sounds simple right? The russian bear may be weak but it isn't dead. This dangerous situation needs to be looked at closely and it is important that we take note of the Senators running for President and what they are saying about this.

  7. He is helping Georgia, help isn't only with a tank you know.

  8. Because 2 world powers cant fight against each other....Us and Russia have the strongest militaries in the world....well thats my opinion...i dont know the real reason.

  9. He did come to Georgia's aid. He negogiated a ceasefire. "Coming to a country's aid" does not always mean "Hey y'all, let's git out our guns!"

I get that, and I don't even like Bush.

  10. With what?

Bill Clinton cut about 40% of the military manpower.  And what we have is tied up in Iraq and Kuwait.   So exactly what do you think we could send to Georgia to help?

Or do you propose we bring back the draft and have a major US buildup and return to the military to the size it had in 1991 when we did Desert Storm?

  11. I guess he has a thing for Arabs.

  12. World politics.  I know you detest the thought of trying diplomatic means first, but military action should only be used if diplomacy fails.

  13. Because he's a pretty crappy president.
