  1. His popularity, Vietnam war, some think his involvement with the Kennedy assignation. There are many reasons.


  2. Johnson decided not to run because he said it would take away from his focus on the war also in embarrasment as coming in 3rd after McCarthy and RFK. He didnt like that he didnt get the vote from his own party.
