  1. Its from Private Eye - a satirical mag in Britain. They gave the RF new names....the Queen was Brenda, Princess Margaret was Yvonne, Prince Philip was Stavros and I think Prince Edward was Brian......its the usual British p**s-take.

  2. "Brenda" is the name that the satirical magazine, Private Eye, uses whenever it discusses Queen Elizabeth. This is a result of the 1969 BBC documentary Royal Family, after which the magazine gave each member of the Royal Family working class nicknames, as though they were characters in a soap opera.

Royal Family (1969) is a celebrated and reverential BBC documentary made by Richard Cawston to accompany the investiture of the current Prince of Wales. The documentary is frequently held responsible for the greater press intrusion into the Royal Family's private life since its first broadcast.

Queen Elizabeth II is often referred to as "Brenda", and the Prince of Wales as "Brian". The Duke of Edinburgh is "Keith", the late Princess Margaret was "Yvonne", and the late Diana, Princess of Wales was dubbed "Cheryl".

  4. It's from the magazine called Private Eye which regularly lampoons the Royal Family. Brenda is the name they gave The Queen. They gave all of the family  names and serialized their lives in a soap-opera-ish fashion;it was quite funny at times.
