  1. I think there are four reasons:

    1) I saw a comment from Renault saying they had spent to much time updating the car during 2006 and not enough on planning for 2007, so I'm guessing that while the other teams stopped their car development towards the end of 2006 season, Renault kept developing that year's car instead of concentrating on the 2007 car too. The theory being this would have given them an edge towards the end of the season, but at the expense of performance for 2007.

    2) Obviously the departure of Alonso didn't help, but I really don't think things would have been much different if he'd stayed.

    3) From comments on the TV by commentators (and on the internet from Renault), it appears Renault had an incredibly good traction control system (which is integrated with the Engine Control Unit), so when they were required to have the Standard Engine Control Unit instead of their own custom unit, this knocked them for six.

    4) Rule changes, especially the single supplier of tyres (which wasn't their favoured brand) affected the performance not just of cars, but the ability of drivers to drive at the very edge of their performance envelop.

  2. EASY  it is a French car.... OMG what do you expect h**l the women don't even shave there pitts.

  3. They didnt grow with time. Their investment in F1 seems to have been reduced, if your not their interest in the sport altogether. At a time when Force India is giving the midfield a run for the money, Renault is struggling to keep up pace even with Williams. Not even Alonso can win with a team severely lacking pace. I feel bad for him. I reckon he needs to change his team. There were talks he might shift to Ferrari to replace Massa however, given Massa's fantastic performance I dont think McLaren would be keen on having him. Maybe we'd see Nick shift from BMW to Renault, Alonso to BMW as no. 1 driver.

Rick, you had me in splits man. ROFL. LMAO.

  4. renault was made in such a way so as work in a balanced manner with mitchlen tyres

also renault had problems with their wind tunnle bcoz of which they lost da aerodynamics

  5. Well, going into 2007, they lost both Alonso, as well as the Michellin tires that they are so use to

Renault was one of the most efficient car with the Mics tires.

All that advantage was gone when everyone switch to bridgestone

And the Alonso factor was gone as well

Now that Alonso is back, we can see some improvement

  6. IMO they never really recovered from the loss of their mass dampers, plus Alonso jumped ship to McLaren. as Bad bus driving wolf says not a lot of time was spent on future development.

  7. Mass damper.
