Why did Rocky Balboa bounce that ball all the time?

yeah i agree its a workout he can do whereever he went. for the film it also potrays him as an ordinary guy or kid if you may that likes to have fun to shoot the ball like everyone else but ended up being a bouncer in a tough neighborhood. kind of a contrast in his personality to give it depth

Rocky would bounce the ball because he would use this as a small work out, by testing his reflex, just like playing handball with someone else.

its a good hand to eye hand coordination, plus when you run or walk it gives you something to do.

He was poor, guess it was the only form of entertainment he could afford. He used to to train his footwork and speed too. Good for working on hand eye coordination too.

But overall id say because he was poor, He probably saved for a month to buy that ball.
