  1. What a wonderful programme!

He is sadly missed on our tv!

I knew of one of the men he was investigating-

Roger was in a helicopter in Spain overlooking this mans grand house that had been paid for by unsuspecting people putting money into his account! and this man was laughing at Roger and his team!!! As they could do nothing as there was no extradition-and this man new it!

  2. Yep,good lad was Roger!

If I remember rightly, some TV programme tried to do an expose on him!

    Does anyone remember the details?

  3. Marked man. He shoped up some very "Mysterious Charactors" and I suspect upset someone in high places.

Aftere the BBC backed down over the Kelly sucide/murder affair on WMD I no longer have much confidence in any of our protective institution, because the Blair government robbed them of their independence.

  4. The man is now 65 years old so its probable that he has retired from broadcasting. I like the man and his program and would love to see it come back. As I remember he was a little overweight then so his health may not be as good as it was.

  5. The Cook Report got straight to the point.

I think he maybe got tired carting his bulkyness around and has opted for early retirement.

Donal Macintyre has taken his place - he knows how to get the story told.

Watch out for 'The Macintyre Report' coming to a box near you.

  6. He's published his memoirs 1998/9 and is Visiting  Professor at the Centre for Broadcasting and Journalism at Nottingham Trent University.

He still writes, but he was so recognisable that it was time for a lower profile I'd guess, plus the fact he was born in 1943 so he's not so young and he was never that 'handy' in tough situations anyway..

But we need some good investigative journos nowadays, I agree!

  7. Death threats from the criminal underworld is what stopped him

  8. what a fantastic man full of guts , what a pity we dont have a prime minister as strong as him

  9. Yes Bobby he was brilliant and braizen enought to take them all on.  I suppose he has retired now. But we will never see the like of him again.  I loved him and his morals and principles.

  10. well seeing as he had every bone in his body broken at some time or another! he probably had enough

  11. Get out before they get you is what I say

  12. perhaps because of the very nature of his work, i would imagine at various points he was very much a marked man.

and maybe that can be enough to dissuade you from continuing.

  13. Great peace and respect to you for asking this.

I personally think he was part of a one of the best investigating teams ever put on TV. I do know that he had to stop for a while due to death threats by the very people / organisations that he was investigating. He did make a comeback, but dissapeared off the scene again. He investigated some very dangerous people, so maybe he felt in too much personal danger and just called it a day - who knows...

EDIT - there are some clips still available on YouTube...

He doesn't seem to be doing anything at all these days. That's a great shame my friend.

  14. Maybe he,s running for his life...
