Senator Obama address the AIPAC lobby, whose interest are beholden to Israel, not the US, and pledged more US monetary and military aid than ever, 30 billion to be exact. Why this appeasement over just being an honest broker in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?

  1. He knows the real solution is the elimination of the Hamas child killing group so therefore he pledged money in aid of saving the children. Every child saved is money well spent.

  2. get over it, Obama is a politician

  3. Obama, like most Americans and most of the Western world, strongly supports a two-state solution.

This means unshakeable support for Israel and for a Palestinian state.  He/we do not see this as a contradiction, as do those who want to make a "greater Palestine" or a "greater Israel".

Hope that helps.  It may also reassure you that his foreign policy advisors include members of Carter's former team, who, as you know, are rather unshakeable supporters of the Palestinians.

  4. He did not do that.

First of all, the Senator did not turn his back on the Palestinians. Second, many people do not support the Palestinians extremists because they have said that their goal is the total extermination of Israel. They have no interest in peace, they only want to take, take, take, take.

This is JUST one of his quotes "The Palestinians need a state that is contiguous and cohesive, and that allows them to prosper — but any agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel's identity as a Jewish state, with secure, recognized and defensible borders."

That is very strongly worded in FAVOR of the Palestinians. His entire speech was totally in favor of the Palestinians. Why would anyone think otherwise. Perhaps it is because they want to have people agree with them instead of knowing the truth.

The bottom line is that the question you asked cannot be answered because the information it assumes is totally incorrect.

  5. 'cause he's smart

  6. Obama was appealing to Jewish audiences seeking their vote.  The same as any politician whether it be Jewish,Christian or any voters..Sad not only for him but all the candidates..

  7. Read the complete story. Obama has called for negotiations, and has promised not to wait until the twilight year of his presidency to try to find a solution.

  8. Ms. Miche is right. No honest broker will survive the radical hatred of most Americans against Palestinians. If he does not support Israel, he will be called a terrorist. Heck, he's already being called a terrorist, just because his middle name is Hussein.

  9. Actually it took him just one day to deny that he was in favor of a united Jerusalem, as he had stated  in his address to AIPAC.

Presidential candidates generally promise everything and deliver nothing, but they generally wait until they are elected to deny their campaign promises.

Obama has set a new record.  He has no shame!

    .

  10. In Libnan some say he converted, some say the  ICNA tried to sway him but his beliefs are too strong.

    He said two weeks ago

"Afghanistan and Iraq have both had regime changes, but are being fueled by outsiders from Syria and Iran . We have scared Gaddafi's pants off, and he has given up his quest for nuclear weapons, so I don't think Libya is now a threat.

North Korea (the non-Islamic threat) can be handled diplomatically by buying them off. They are starving. That leaves Syria and Iran . Syria is like a frightened puppy. Without the support of Iran they will join the stronger side. So where does that leave us?

Sooner, or later, we are going to be forced to confront Iran , and it better be before they gain nuclear capability. "

  11. That is what every American "president" has to do. Otherwise he would be either kicked or killed. Don't you know that USA is controlled by the zionists?

  12. Maybe because they vote and you don't.  Yes - no.

Maybe they have more money than you.  Yes

They are more diplomatic, I think than....let's say Hamas for one.  Oh yes on that one too.

I just feel bad for the Christian Arabs caught up in the middle of this all.

  13. He didn't do that - he took the moral stand of supporting Israel against aggression and any good politician would who does not have his view point warped by anti-Semitism.

    Good Luck!!!

  14. Because under international law the Palestinians have no right to the land the Israelis occupy and he was supporting the international law.

  15. pimf,

Any candidate for US presidency must be for Israel otherwise there is no chance for him to become president.  It is as simple as that.

    Sincerely,

    Ms. Miche ; })

  16. AIPAC has a lot of money and clout.  They'd probably continue their whispering campaign that Obama is a Muslim if he didn't kowtow to them.  They and all the neocons (most of whom are part of the Israel lobby, and have places of influence at news media like Fox News)

Sad, because I think Obama could win anyway against a mealy-mouthed nincompoop like McCain.

Sad, because the American people favor fairness and are against apartheid and racism - particularly Jews, at least those I know (although some have a big blind spot when it comes to the character of Israel)

The truth of the matter is it isn't a high priority for most people, and they remain unaware of the ethnic cleansing carried out by Israel, and (to contradict what I just said) American movies and media especially talk radio have been stirring up hate against Arabs and Muslims for decades, making a whispering campaign against Obama that much more dangerous.

  17. well he has to obey israel..america has so many israel supporting jewish people in it, and he needs all the votes he can get...you dont want to make an enemy out of them

and the western image of palestinians and arabs in general is really bad...theyre seen as illiterate camel herders who will sell their daughters for a cow

israelis and jews in general are seen as quick sharp money making machines

if he backs the palestinians up theyll call him a terrorist and they wont vote for him

hes just telling eveyone what they want to hear lol

  18. So your question is saying you think he's lieing?  Me too!  Don't believe a word of what he says.

I have to clear up some misconceptions.  American politics is rather tricky.

Obama cannot be given credit for something he didn't do. He did not offer Israel 30 billion dollars.  That is culmination of meeting between Olmert and Bush in June 2007. Also, this figure is misleading. Currently, Israel receives 2.6billion annually, and the 30 bil is only over next 10 year period.  That means it is being raised from 2.6bil to 3bil per year.  Obama published a statement saying he supports it.

Bush is also pumping up Saudi Arabia, UAE and Egypt at 20 billion total over 10 year period.  Some people (including Olmert) tried to stop that from occurring, it was heated debate in US, but last I heard it was on.

Fiscal year America ends Sept/Oct so the addt'l aid should have started for everyone already. I don't pay attention to finances so much, it's only money. :) People are what matter to me.

No American President can ever be elected without pledging support to Israel. It has nothing to do with appeasement or being an honest broker. It is political suicide for anyone to say they do not support Israel and politicians know this.  Obama has to say he supports Israel whether he means it or not.  That is why it is important for voters to pay attention to all that is said, to deem if they are sincere or not, and not go by a few statements.  Obama has said so many other things to show he is not sincere.

You ever hear we're a predominately Christian nation? Well, it's huge here lol. (understatement) While we can argue Judeo-Christian, Jewish, Noachide or simply just Christian values, they are values nonetheless. People take those values with them to the polls, much to the dismay of people with "no values" or other values.

So when one thinks of American Presidents (or candidates) speaking of Israel, don't think of them being controlled by Israel or any lobby group, as that is not the case. That's just the propaganda that gets thrown about. It is because America expects them to support Israel, and there is legitimate group that helps Presidents along in that regard.

Regarding turning his back on Palestinians, or Israel for that matter, Obama has had no opportunity to do either.  Campaign promises are just that, promises.  He's had no opportunity to follow thru or retract, sidestep, twist, or all the other things politicians do after they've made it to office.

Honest broker?  I think US and Bush brokering has hurt Israel. This Gaza fiasco was Bush invention and Sharon agreed to it.  Israel doesn't need a broker in future.
