Question:

Why did Whalom Park in Lunenburg have to be close?

I know that Whalom park was 107 years old about when it was closed down in 2002.

I know things were being destroyed in 2006 as well.

Something about 2000 rings a bell but I am not sure, that may be something else.

I also know about the vandalism done to the park which completely destroyed the Ballroom for dancing that they had.

Is there a good site anyone knows about that could inform me of the exact reason it was closed down and how they auctioned off the rides and how The Black Hole (Wooden rollercoaster) was dismantled after the park was closed?

:)

  1. From what I can remember, the park closed because of financial reasons. Most of the rides were run down and just scary anyway. I remember riding the roller coaster and thinking that it was going to fall apart at any time! It's a shame that they closed the park since it was closer and more convenient than going to Riverside (now Six Flags). I wish that I had more information for you.
