  2. I'm going to guess that you're implying JFK and his staffers disavowed the Bay of Pigs invasion, but got public on confronting Kruschev.  

    If you've read the confessions of McNamara, a key player in the JFK White House you'll better understand the level of intrigue in JFK's and LBJ's regimes, and what exceptionally poor leaders they were.  We're extremely fortunate that the moronic of both of them did not lead us into global destruction.  

  3. Your question is not specific enough.  Which sabotage attempt and/or confrontation under which President?  The USA confronted the Soviet Union over missiles beginning in the late 1950's and lasted until 1991.
