Why did Yahoo Groups ban everybody in my group including me?

OK, here's the situation.

- I moderate a group of about 100 people - an internal listserv for an organization.

- I am not the administrator, but I have talked to that person and he has not done anything related to the organization or Yahoo Groups in quite a long time.

- Earlier this week, other members started to receive bounce back messages saying they were banned from the group.

- I went in the group to see what was going on, and I was banned.

- The front page of the site, which is the only page anyone can access says there are only 2 members in the group.

What the h**l happened?

  1. ***I allow e-mail and messages, send me the group link if the members list tab is there and I'll see if I can join and find out who the two remaining members are- or create a new Account and do the same.  if there are 2 members left, my guess is your answer is within one of those two members. it could be a compromised passord of the owner, and they can be compromised even if you tell no one what it is.

if there was an owner and more than one moderator with full priviledges, could happen and probably is relatd to one of them and/ or their accounts. but yahoo deletes groups, they'd never go to this extreme and effort.

how did you determine you were banned? did it show you as a non member? what happened when you tried to sub back in?

Yahoo groups do not do these such things, they'd had just deleted the group than go and ban each member. I'd suggest a password was compromised and that's how this happened.

  2. check your email for emails sent, look for spoof mails where you were asked for your informationor had problems and to sign it... beware of the spoof...
