Question:

Why did Yahoo! REMOVE link to Finance Statements?

When looking at a stock profile on Yahoo! Finance, you will see at the bottom of the left column a category for "FINANCIALS". Under this category are 3 financial reports: Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow. BUT, there is no data behind the links!!! Has Yahoo! once again caved to the corporate PRESSURE and SOLD OUT (same as they did by censoring EXEC COMP in the Corporate Profile Section)! I am becoming concerned with the hypocrisy of Yahoo! It seems they like to advertise the power of the Internet and access to information, in so far as it is to their benefit (or corporate partners). But when that information is a little too close to home... well, "that doesn't need to be published quite so visibly.." (Feeling some heat, Jerry or Sue?)

I appreciate Yahoo! wants to make a buck. The last thing they want is to offend one of their marquee banner advertisers. Banner ads are worthless and Yahoo! knows it. The only ads worth anything are search ads. And nobody searches Yahoo! How hard can it be to figure out a better algorithm? Rather they figure out a way to block information that they arbitrarily deem ____ ?? ____ (you fill in the blank).

A public company is required by law (SEC) to disclose certain information and if that includes exec comp (which it obviously must) you might as well put it where it can be seen, UNLESS YOU ARE HIDING SOMETHING (Like HUGE PAY FOR HORRIBLE PERFORMANCE?)... Hhhmmm.. I would hate to offend anyone.

Note to those who shall remain nameless:

Sleep well on that MOUNTAIN OF MONEY while you swim in the the waters of DENILE.

One last thing... Does it ever hurt to look in the mirror? Or do you just not have mirrors around?

  2. They could be changing their provider. In 2005 they went from using Reuters to using their own. Yahoo uses a lot of different sources for information and maybe this one is gone and they are looking for another. You can still access them from the company's website.
