I dont understand. 95% of all the divers in the Olympics rubbed their butts and then their thighs right before beginning their dive? Is there a reason for this???

  1. Probably making sure their hands are as dry as possible and then testing their "grip" on their skin.  Their hands need to be as dry as possible in order to be able to get a good grip in the tuck positions.  It's also probably just a habit, like the baseball players adjusting their gloves before they bat.

  2. They did that to show, despite the craziness of doing dives from 33 feet off the water, that they are smart enough to find their butts with both hands.  Some people are not that intelligent .. they can't find their butts with two hands.

Other than that, it is likely a swim suit adjustment or a comfort move.  In either case and all cases, it is an unconscious move.

  3. Hahaha... you are very observant to be seeing it all like that! But I don't think there is a reason to it. But I think it might be to check the position of their swim suits and trunks before the dives and maybe also to just loosen their thigh muscles.

Don think too much about it! Its nothing really. LOL
