Why was child molestation nearly unheard of prior to the mid-60's?

Was it just hidden more or was there something else to it

such as expectations of society and/or belief in God?

How has the change of mind-set worked against modern

society since the 60's?

What are root causes of increased crime in general?

Please list your sources - thanks!

  1. "Please list your sources - thanks!"

As soon as you list the source that says child molestation was nearly unheard of prior to the mid-60s.

  2. Crime has been happening all over the world since mankind picked up his first weapon. The only difference between then and now is the fact that we are more connected to the world around us through tv and the internet.

  3. "Why was child molestation nearly unheard of prior to the mid-60's?"

Phew. How's the internet service on your planet?

Your "question" is obviously a thinly veiled parroting of that inane religious right notion that the ban on teacher-led prayer in public schools caused the downfall of society. You should be aware that claim is childish, inane, obviously false, and anti-American. I'd suggest you stay away from whoever is inspiring you to parrot it.

  4. You must not have read the bible. Read all the crimes and atrocities in there.

  5. Why are you pulling statistics out of your a$s when they are easy to counter?

    Crime trends are down:

    Sorry, toots.

  6. Drugs

During the 60s street drugs began to become mainstream. It has only escalated since then.

  7. Crime statistics differ in various demographics across the U.S., but poverty has a direct correlation to the increase in crime.  During the late 1960's and early 1970's, manufacturing jobs began to leave the cities in favor of the suburbs and eventually overseas during the Reagan years.  As jobs left the inner cities, the poor working class left also if they could, but left the unemployed poor alone, therefore it increased the spread of the ghetto.  Also with the infusion of foreign drugs into the inner cities, it acted like a "molatov cocktail" of contributing factors.  From a Christian perspective, "belief in God" must always translate towards working against the racist policies of the U.S. government.  Christians should stand against those policies which seek to harm people in the inner city.  Peace!

  8. You list your sources first, thanks.

Yesterday's sermon doesn't count as a source, btw.

  9. read 2nd timothy chapter 3

  10. We wouldn't have the problems to the extent we have them today if we would have been religiously enforcing the death penalty.
