Why did gas prices go up today?

i live in chicago suburbs. it jumped from 3.99 yesterday to 4.15 today. it must be a local tax increase. not sure

No clue where you are but it dropped in my area ............

$3.67 this afternoon - was $3.74 yesterday

It's been going down in most places. Check it tomorrow. It could be a temporary thing.

It depends on a lot of things like:

- price of oil in your area

- supply disruptions, did something happen at one of the gasoline loadout terminals?

- refinery disruptions

- you are in California and Californians like paying higher prices for everything.

- a speculator sees a future spike in demand in your area and bought up oil or gasoline futures.

- the guy who sets prices in your area goofed

BTW, I paid $3.43/gal today

In  Idaho  here  went down a dime  today.  Is now $4.12
