Why did god use Adam's rib to create Eve?

When he easily made Adam from dirt.

(not to mention creating the entire universe in the dark, before saying "let there be light")

I mean, why did he not just say "let there be woman"

And who was he talking to, anyway?

  1. god knows every thing so he didn't have a problem creating things in the dark

  2. The almighty "god" couldn't find any more dirt.

  3. And who heard him?

Anyway, the bible was written by misogynistic men. If the story goes, that the woman came from the man, then he already has dominance over her.

  4. To show that men and women are made for each other, like the answer above has stated if you want to know more the bible explains it more then what I can. Without God taken the rib from Adam and putting it in Eve then there would be no connection between men and women.

  5. Cos ribs are good eatin'.

  6. genetic manipulation of stem cells.....

  7. The closer you get to Him the more your questions will be answered by HIM.

  8. let's get married <3

edit: haha! alright. i just always wanted to marry someone i see eye to eye with

  9. 1. b/c he was short of Lime Kitties to use?

    2. Since "he" is supposed to be everything anyway, isn't this still the something from nothing argument the creationists use to attack evolution?

    God is everything

God say "let there be light" where before there was none

Ex nihilo nihil fit, whoops, no god.

    3. There have been times when I wish this worked. I'm guessing god didn't do this b/c he didn't want to repeat himself. You know how believers like to keep things exciting and "miraculous".

    4. See my answer to #2.

  10. Well, God initially had planned on creating a woman who would do absolutely everything Adam wanted without question, she'd cook and clean for him, take care of him, he'd be living the life of his dreams if God had created this woman, but God told him she'd cost him an arm and a leg.... Adam was feeling kind of cheap, so he asked what he could get for a rib instead, so God created Eve.

  11. I do not know his purpose in the rib, or is it a sign unto the ribo-fluid as of the RNA  and the DNA.

  12. God created Eve from Adam's side(the hebrew word for 'rib' and 'side' are the same) for three reasons:

1: to show that man and woman were literally made for each other

2: to show how a marriage reunites two humans who were once one

3: to show that although a woman has a different role than a man, they are both spiritually equal(as opposed to making Eve from Adam's feet, or his head)
