Why? Don't even start to debate about mistranslations and that sort of thing. I want to know why god thought it'd be a "good" idea to tell mankind the world is a circle.

  1. That's just splitting hairs.  Everyone knows the world is circular.

  2. I am sublimely confident that God knows at least as much as we do about the world He created in every detail...

  3. er ....  because it is.

  4. A circle is 2d sphere. Geometry.

If "gwx" means "compass" that's even more acceptable, seeing as the Earth is literally a giant compass with its magnetism.

If it means "vault", you could apply that to the Earth as well.

Obviously this IS a Mistranslation issue, if we don't even know the context in which "gwx" is used. Provide the passage, and maybe an answer could be produced.

Edit: Where's it say this? Now I'm curious to find out.

Edit2: Ok, now I understand. Good point, good question. This brings up the question if the Bible were indeed divinely inspired.

  5. You mean he should have been mathematically exact and called it spherical?
