  1. :)

tree tumors... interesting... i will google that :)

  2. Plants have Vascular like tissue (tissues are made of many unique differentiated cells) that transport water and nutrients from the roots to the rest of the plant called XYLEM. There is another form of vascular like tissue that carries Sugars made in the leafs from photosynthesis to the rest of the plant PHLOEM.

This vascular like tissue runs throughout the entire plant and transports nutrients from root to leafs, and from leafs to roots. ---

In multi-cellular eukaryotes like the tree that you not to distantly pruned (in tree time that is) --When cells die (like when you cut the limbs) probably the entire xylem or phloem that was severed from its nutrients source... died throughout the length of the tree.

When TISSUES DIE in the multi cellular eukaryotes (like plants and you and me) the cells of that tissue make more copies of themselves through the process known as MITOSIS (they do this to grow more tissue)

HOWEVER when this happens the daughter cell that was created from the mother cell is pretty much a copy.... THIS can be a problem if the MOTHER cell is infected with a virus or has damaged GENOME (DNA) that cause harm (for example damage to the cellular DNA that CONTROLS GROWTH for that cell (this is CANCER). The daughter cell will inherit these flaws.....

    ***IN other WORDS****

YOU SEVERED necessary vascular tissue of your tree this tissue that ran through the length of your tree died...

The tree made copies of the cells that remained... THEY were damaged in a particular GENE that controlled proper GROWTH (MITOSIS).-- SO as a result the NEW TISSUE IS unregulated and also INCORRECT IN STRUCTURE (cancer..aka TUMOR)

PLANTS are tuff stuff and your tree will probably be fine. although if you want to get rid of the tumors your just gonna have to cut them off (99.9%) chance that it comes back unless of course you give it drugs that cure cancer like THC in MARIJUANA. (watch run from the cure the rick simpson story on youtube) take it easy!!
