Why did he look like rubber at the wake?

I went to a wake and once we went up there, i thought to myself ew, his hands and face look like rubber. His hands look like they were completely fake, and his face looks like a rubber mask that looked just like him. Does it make seance cuz he died of cancer and was in a coma for a week?

The mortician will use makeup, too, which doesn't help matters.
