i went to the fair recently, i LOVE rides as I'm a bit of a thrill seeker and usually enjoy all of the rides allot! this time was no different to others and i got on a ride i had been on lots of times before! only this time i sat on the end of the ride right infront of the strobe lights. at first i loved it like normal but then my head went totally out of it and i blacked out for a few second, when i opened my eyes i felt like i was upside down and felt really ill. the ride was not a scary one and wasnt very extreme as i have been on better ones. this has never happened to me before on the ride ans it was really scary! why did it happen?? im not epileptic by the way! the ride looked about the same as this >>http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Y32JtyKTz0Y&feature=related

  1. congrats! you have blacked out!!! it was probably from all of the G forces, my first time riding the Mantis at cedar point was a lot different than the 2nd. there was probably something that made it more intense, its nothing, dont worry.

  2. o yea that also happened to me on that ride, and ive also ridden it before! I think its because the blood goes in your head real fast on that! But its so fun though! I felt a bit dizzy after also, and it was like my 20th time on the ride......

  3. If you are still concious and aware you are on the ride, the actual term is "greying out".  It can be caused by many factors on rides one of the first being the rider's health.  do you or anyone in your family have a history of seizures?  that could be a cause although if it was only for a few seconds, I doubt you had a seizure.  Most of the time if there is intense effect lighting involved (ie: strobes) on a ride, that can confuse your brain to the point that with your surroundings moving like crazy and loud music, it can momentarily overload the neurons in your brain, causing the greying out.  The people who answered about g-forces on a ride are right, g-forces can make you grey out, but I would guess probably not on a ride like you were on.  Most rides at fairs are not liscenced to run rides with anything that actually causes g-forces on the body and if they do it is very low.  G-forces are usually put on the body on intense rides at amusement parks such as mega coasters and hyper coasters.  The type of ride you were on is a "fixed" ride that is a spinner.  None of the similar rides to it carry a g-force at all.  I am pretty sure that you are okay and just experienced a greying out episode from sensory overload.

  4. i've done that before, and the best thing that i can think of is that it's a little like a head rush, like when you stand up too fast. i'm -guessing- that all the blood rushes to your head, and that overwhelms you for a minute, but again, i'm not 100% sure

  5. The G forces would cause you to do this.  And if you had been riding other rides earlier, even if this was not particularly extreme, the forces can have a cumulative effect, too.  So that even if there were not a lot of G forces on this particular ride, you had been experiencing a lot of G forces very closely together.
