You have to strive to be the best answer(er). When you havn't had a best answer in a considerable amount of time, you start slippin'

You probably answered a few questions and it brought the percent down. How many have you answered after it was raised 5%? The more you answer and don't get picked as best answer, the lower your percent.

The more questions you answer, the lower your best answer percentage goes down because ratios work that way, unless you receive Best Answer for enough of your new answers to stay at 5%.

The same thing happened to me. Then, when I started answering more questions, the percentage started dropping. It's because the more you answer, the lower your percentage gets, unless you get another best answer picked. Holler back if you don't get it.
