  1. It's not a coincidence that the only times we increase the gas mileage standards are when gas prices are high.  The last time we raised them was after the oil crisis in the 70's.


  2. Our friends in Washington tend to be shortsighted.  

    It's taken them 30 years to notice that it might be a good idea not to rely so heavily on oil from unfriendly countries and that the technology surely exists to keep the environment cleaner at the same time.

    Pretty remarkable.

  4. It didn't take 30 years to pass a new energy bill.  In fact, I was just discussing implementation of provisions of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 with a government official last week.
