  1. He was possesed and trapped like all the others who were possesed

  2. The hotel had kind of absorbed him into it.

  3. Another victim of the craziness of the hotel... at least that is how I interpreted it... like he became a ghost to haunt future tenants.

  4. When he was hallucinating earlier in the movie he was drinking at the bar at the hotel.  There was a guy in the bathroom that explained a murder to him that had happened and I think Jack realizes that he was the murderer, or believes he was.  I think the movie really shows you how the lines of illusion and reality were totally blurred.  Maybe his hallucinations were right and he really was part of that era at the hotel.  .... man that was a great movie lol  redrum!  I don't know if I helped at all, but I know it goes along with his hallucinations which suggest he was there at that time.

  5. i guess they wanted to make it a cliffhanger ending

  6. The hotel took over his soul and he haunts the place along with all the other spirits

  7. Yes, another victim and he joined the others.

  8. yes

  9. Yes. He died, but the picture at the end of the movie represents the way in which it's shown that the people who died in the Overlook Hotel (over many years) souls' are trapped in the Overlook Hotel ~ they are also in the picture with Jack Nicholson.
