Why did large empires form in noerthern india rather than farther south?

  1. if you see the map of india you will notice that north is broader and south is narrower. i guess taht explains.


  2. northern India has wide plains called as Indus-Ganga plain. this has been one of the best productive lands of the world. you would know in earlier days most of the civilizations developed on the river banks. this plain has a web of larger and smaller rivers which fostered so many cities, towns and then empires of course. South India is rather non-plain devoid of evergreen river like those in north India, that's why there could not develop big empires.

  3. big empires were founded in southern India also like Vijaynagar (1300 - 1555 AD), chola (250 Bc - 1070 AD) Badami chalukya Empire , etc.

  4. See capes at southern  globe, South America,  Africa and South  India, are tapering, in farther south........, SEEK!
