Why did many developed countries pass through the demographic transition model faster than many developing countries today.

I'm not sure how to answer this one or what they're looking for. Is it possibly to do with trade?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

  1. I would say that certain countries pass the DTM because of the amount of basic natural resources. For example the United Kingdom passed through the model quickly because of the abundance of resources like coal, petroleum, natural gas, iron ore, lead, zinc, gold, tin, limestone, salt, clay, chalk, gypsum, potash, silica sand and slate. All these resources can be exported for a massive premium or they can be processed and used within the country for development. The reason why its taking longer for countries these days to pass through the DTM is because the countries with all the resources have already developed, the other countries that are under developed have no resources of particular value and if they do have valuable resources, then the developed countries purchase those resources for criminally low amounts, so they dont get the money that they need to develop.

Umm i hope that helps, i've only scratched the surface there, but there's plenty more i could say, edit your question and ask me if you want me to explain further.
