I have an inexperienced mother cat in labor. She just had a kitten and she started to clean the kitten....i left for a while and when i came back I noticed she just bit off the half of the kitten's leg! The bone is sticking out...however...it is not bleeding much at all. The kitten doesnt seem to be in great pain but it seems to be uncomfortable. I wrapped the kittens leg with gauze. I dont have moneyfor the vet....is there anything else I can do?

  1. it's normal for pet's to kill there young, just take the kitten to a vet and ask if they can do anything about it. make sure the rest of the kittens are safe with her and keep an eye on them! :) you can also ask your vet to put the cat to sleep if it is in that much of pain. or give the kitten extra care

  2. No money for the vet?

Then you shouldn't have a cat. It's irresponsible.

    TAKE IT TO THE VET.

If you're not going to do that, then give all your animals to a shelter, who can take better care of them and find them new caring homes.

Thats the first time ive ever heard of this :|

Can't add much except to wish you the best of luck (and the cats as well :D)

  4. The bone has to have a covering for it to heal . If you can pull enough skin down to cover it do so. Tape it in place and don't worry about the tape . If you can get a covering of skin the tape will wear off. Otherwise the baby is terminal. A infection will get in the bone and eventually a systematic infection will kill the baby. If it does get ill it will die slowly and painfully. The choice is yours. I would try my best to save the baby but I would not torture it to death. It is going to be hard I have you in my prayers.

  5. if i were you i would go to the vet anyway. the leg could become infected and then the kitten would probobly die. try to keep it clean until you can take it to the vet to prevent infection. i wish i had something i could say to help you so you dont have to go to the vet, but chances are the kitten would die if you dont. the vet can help it though. hopefully it wont have to put it down. it probobly wont. hope i helped :)
