People watched Palin ,almost as many, because she is new and exciting and at least she says what she thinks... Obama says what he thinks people want him to say.  He wants that oval office so bad he will lie and cheat to get it... and then he will do nothing.

For a start, she's much prettier and a whole lot smarter than he is.  Also it turns out she's by far more qualified than he is.

Oh, and she can speak without a teleprompter.  Apparently the teleprompters didn't work right that night.  She sounded great on her own, but every time Obama is off the teleprompter he sounds like Porky Pig.

I can't answer for everyone, but for me, it was because she is relatively new on the national scene, and I wanted to get a feel for what she was all about. I'm glad I did, too, because i like her alot, and think she would bring some much needed blue-collar perspective to the white house.

Obama had already been in the media for months on end, so people pretty much were aware of him and where he stood. Palin is new, so people tune in to find out more about her.

They (the public) has seen and heard Obama for months and months.  Only a tiny fraction of the general population ever heard of Ms Palin, likely it was curiosity as much as anything else.

I don't think that watching someone on TV equates to votes, but I could be wrong.

The Neilson company stated that over 40 million people watched the Obama speech. More that the Super Bowl, or The Oscars. I doubt that Palin really did those numbers.

I sincerely hope she did, I think it is a good thing that people get involved in politics by actually viewing the words of the politicians themselves rather than relying on mouthpieces and pundits.

As a fervent supporter of Obama, I watch both Palin and McCain, and feel confident that people who watched both will be more convinced than ever that Obama is the better choice.
