Why did my 1994 Nissan Maxima's coolant start to boil and smoke?

hey i was recently driving my car and my A/C did not work. Not only that the fans did not even work.

Today I pulled over on the side of the street and my coolant started to smoke and boil.

Not sure what I should do I dont have alot of money to spend on fixing this.. What do you think?

  1. Check to see if the fans on the back of your radiator are working.  If not, that could have caused the coolant to overheat and boil.  Hopefully that is the case and your car has some electrical problem somewhere.  This would be your best case scenario in regards to repair cost.  

    The worst case scenario could be engine problems leading to overheating which then caused both the boiling coolant and electrical problems. (fans not working, AC not working, etc...)  What is your temperature gauge reading?  If your engine is running hot then you are causing damage by running it.

    Check the fusebox either somewhere under the steering wheel, and/or in the engine bay and check for blown fuses.  If that doesnt solve the problem, and you are not mechanically inclined, take the car to a professional, or mechanically inclined friend to find the source of the problem.
