Bought it on E-Bay in Mar, was playing game on Saturday night and it shut down. Will not come on, it's plugged in, but no power. Adaptor light is working but that's all. Called repair shop, was told to take out battery and unplug for 1/2 hr. Plug back in, if works put back battery. Still nothing when I plugged it in. SOoo, is it shot???

  1. you cannot possibly tell with everything that can go wrong with laptops.

But here are some possible faults...

If you were playing a game, it may of overheated, but that is unlikely.

I also had a laptop over a year ago that did the same thing. it seemed one of the transistors hooking it up to the power, and the wire had completely been teared.

    Just some possible answers!

  2. contact them

  3. It could have died because the fan stopped working earlier, and the unit overheated to the point of cooking the processor.

It could be a bad stick of RAM that is causing it not to boot.

It could be a loose s***w inside that has made a contact it should not have.

It could be a cooked chip, other than the processor.

There are multiple reasons why, and you should bring it in to that repair shop, pay their diagnostic fee and have them give it an overhaul.

  4. May be you need a new battery http://www.replacemaster.com/dell-latitu...

  5. You bought an old laptop off e-bay. You took a chance and it was a bad one. Try it without the power cable connected to it and just the battery, if it doesn't turn on that way it's shot.
