Why did my VW jetta 2006 power door, mirror, window and lock from the driver side stopped working?

I have an issue, hope someone can help. I own a 2006 volkswagen jetta and the power mirror, window and lock from the driver side door stopped working all of the sudden. Remote won't work, it won't roll windows up or down, not even with the key. All the other sides work just fine. I removed the driver's door panel and everything goes to a module, I wonder if this is my problem. Also the driver's door pin does not work, I close the door and the light on door and cluster are still on. It wanted to work for a couple of minutes when I hold door open half way (may be just coincidence?) PLEASE HELP!!!

  1. I had the same issue on my 2006 Jetta 2.0TFSI. I paid for an answer online. On mine I opened the door and where the black rubber accordian wiring cover goes from the door to the interior I cut into it with an exacto knife. When I peeled back the black rubber I found the large orange wire (the power to the controls) was cut. When VW designed the wiring harness they made just slightly too short so after some time and excessive opening and closing the door (drivers door is used far more than passenger) the wire splits. A new wiring harness is about $400. I used a couple of alligator clips and a short length of wire to temporarily cure the problem to be sure this was the only issue. When I had a bit of time I soldered a short length of wire in the gap and shrink wrapped it. $3 in heat sensitive shrink tubing i am back on the road. Keep an eye on the other wires in there too as they will likely have split insulation on them meaning they are not long for this world either.

  2. How do you remove the door on a 2002 VW jetta

  3. Almost guaranteed that it is broken wires between the door and body.  Yes, you can replace the whole harness, or you can just fix the broiken wires with a soldiering iron, some wire, some shrink wrap and some time.  It is astandard known issue, and there are many threads on this at both TDICLUB and VWVORTEX

  4. Hi I have the exact problem with my 2006 Jetta also. How did you make out? Did you find the problem?

  5. The wiring haeness needs replaced. Just had ours done this week. Expect to pay close to $400 for the repair.
