It is June and they never blossomed! We are new to the house (and apple trees) and really cut it back last fall. It produced last year, but teeny tiny apples.

  1. do you spray pesticides? If so , bees might not want to take the nectar from the apple blossoms, causing the fruit to not produce. or your tree may have a disease. if you use chemicals on your lawn it could also be the cause of your apple tree not having any apples.

  2. I might be off on this answer, but I believe there is a pollination problem because of a lack of bees. I saw a special on 60 Minutes, I think, and farmers with fruit orchards were paying big bucks to have bees delivered to their farms.

I know some species need to have a male/female  of the same family in close proximity, I don't know if that's the case for apple trees.

Do a search online for apple tree pollination, also you can call your local extention office, they will often make a "house-call".

    Good luck!

  3. It all depends on where you live. If it is too much rain (my area) or too much sun the ground is still recovering from last season.

  4. Apple trees do not have to blossom every year. If you fertilize them and prune them properly (removing about 1/2 of the growth each year) then you are maximizing the chances of a good harvest. But I have had cases when my entire orchard did not produce a single apple in certain years.

    Sorry :(
