Why did my betta turn grey?

My (seemingly healthy) betta who was a bright beautiful turquoise, was found dead this morning, and completely grey. What could have caused such a dramatic colour change?

my friend just recently gave me a betta and i named her Naomi. she came blue but then i fed her red food and she went from blue to gray to red. i am trying to make her turquise. i think i will try a mixture of green and blue foods (: will that work?
