Why did my bunny die?

When I went to clean my bunnies cage around 6pm (the usual time) he was on his side breathing shallow and covered in urine. When i had fed him earlier he was absolutely fine and was bouncing around when i took him out, although wen i took him out this time he started to cry and buried himself into my neck when i held him to my chest. I took action and called vets and received no answer i called friends and they knew nothing. When i layed him down i discovered that his leg was bleeding and to my dismay there was no cut. Worried i headed to the nearest vet, open or not i was going to get help. On the way there my bunny had a severe seizure and when i checked him after his breathing and heart stopped. I preformed cpr but it was no use, my little bunny had passed. Please help, this baffles me completely because he was fine only hours before. I need to give my sweet thumper some peace in knowing what struck him so suddenly and lethally. If you have any information please email me at c3c3znumba1@yahoo.com i am quite desperatet and need help.

  1. As a rabbit breeder for many years, I can say I'm very sorry for your loss.

But from your question I can not see you did anything wrong, bunnies have a very short life unlike cats or dogs. The average life of a rabbit is 5-7 years tops, sometimes less or sometimes longer but that is the average.

Was your bunny old or very young those would die very quickly,

  2. It's very strange. It could have been a spider bite and the if it was laying on it's side the bleeding could have been rectal. If you're dead set on finding out what happened to him you can ask a vet to perform an autopsy on him. It's no doubt costly but it could get you the answer you're looking for.

  3. mine died the same way but i didn't hear any of it cuz i was asleep

  4. it might have been bitten by something

  5. omq, that really sad, i am really sorry for you loss. I was thinking maybe it got bit by something...i'm really sorry.

  6.   I think, a snake or any other animal had bited your bunny.
