Question:

Why did my camera suddenly stop reading my SD cards?

Hello,

I have had my Nikon camera for around two years. Recently, the two SD cards have not been recognized by the camera. This happens most of the time, rarely does the camera read the card.

Both SD cards have previous pictures on them. Both SD cards are also recognized on my computer.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Jimmy

Thanks in advance

  1. Could have you formatted these cards?

Or is there a error on them from pulling them out of the computer without using the safe to remove option on your computer.

or Could be just that camera.

  2. Most SD cards have a small plastic switch on the left hand side that you simply flick and it will unprotect/protect the card. This will affect the camera as most cameras will only read unprotected cards, how ever your computer should be able to read them, how ever it should not be able to change things on the card. If this does not work then try formatting the card on your computer and then inserting it into your camera and formatting it in your camera menu (this should be explained in the manual). I hope this helps
