I crossed the US/CANADA border and the guy asked me the usual questions like where I was going and why. He then asked me to go park my car & get inspected and he wrote on the paper I had to submit to them "Reason for inspection: "WTD".

What does WTD mean?

  1. Weapons of terrible destruction?

  2. basically, they were looking for firearms and/or drugs.  canada does not allow importing firearms.  and, although you can smoke pot in some cafes in Vancouver without a problem, they tend to frown on importing drugs.  anyone may be suspected.

oh, btw, if you wear your cap like in the avatar you are immediately suspect.

  3. It's usually a combination of factors that trigger you for a closer search. I don't know what WTD means, but people who travel alone are often much more likely to be singled out for a search than those who travel with a spouse or parent, from what I can tell.

  4. WTD is an acronym from the US Army that means "Weapons Training Detachment"...  If you were stopped by the Army, they might have pulled you over at random for training purposes.

  5. it doesn't matter, he can send anyone to secondary inspection at any time for any reason. He may not have liked your response to a certain question or you may have said something contradictory to an earlier response,or your name may have red flagged on his computer. The case is, it is his country, you abide by the rules at the border. If you are okay, secondary will let you go, if not,you could be held or sent back from whence you came

  6. Quite interesting, but I don't know the answer.  Were you heading into the USA or Canada?

  7. First - I don't know ....sorry

But I was curious as to what way you were going ? Into Canada or into the US ?

I find the question interesting and would like to know myself

So I am going to put a star beside it

I hope that you get an answer
