Question:

Why did my cat p**p on my bed?

My cat is 14 years old but even in his prime, if my mom would leave for a few days, he would p**p right in the middle of her bed. I have recently moved out and my mom has informed me that he has pooped on my bed. Is this a sign that he is angry? does not understand? I have had him all this time but still cannot figure out as to why he does this?

  1. Hi there... it's difficult to reason why your cat would inappropriately soil the beds when someone is away for a duration.  Most of the time it signals a health issue that causes the behaviour, however if there is no medical problems and this has happened over a long period of time it likely has become habitual and difficult to discourage aside from closing doors to bedroom while anyone is away.

If it is a fairly new behavioural change,  chances are he may be letting you know he is not well and should be evaluated by your veterinarian to be treated respectively.

Here's an article about why cats inappropriately soil by Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine: http://www.vet.cornell.edu/fhc/brochures...
