Question:

Why did my contact make my eye red?

A couple days ago I noticed my eye was red and irritated, so i took out my contacts and switched to glasses for a couple days while my eye got better. After it was clear, i put my contacts back in(stupid me), and they seemed fine for a day until i noticed my other eye was red! So, i've taken them out again and thrown away that pair of contacts. What do you think caused that contact to make my eye red? it was almost time for me to switch to a new pair, do you think they irritated my eyes because they were getting old? Has anyone experienced this?

thanks to anyone who answers!

  1. Maybe the contacts were dirty? It usually happens to me when i drop mine or something and i dont wash thoroughly enough.

  2. I know exactly what you're talking about

    could either be

    dirt trapped under lense

wearing contacts for long periods of time with no breaks

wearing the same pair too many times/for too long

be sure to follow all the usual precautions and guidelines for wearing contacts and I'm sure you won't have similar problems in the future :)

  3. its the strees of taking your contacts off

It isnt an infection or an illness but the stress of the contacts on your eye...

  4. if its new and you out it in your eye, you either didnt wash you hands cleanly

its probably because you eye isnt use to it yet or your not a person to use contacts. maybe its because its drying your eyes so its turning red
