Why did my eye turn red?

I've been wearing my contacts for over a month now and all of the sudden i put in one of my lenses and it started to burn and my eyeball was all red! this never happened before. i use opti-free solution..

  1. You said "over a month". I assume the ones you're wearing are for 2 weeks only (like most people) and only 2 weeks. Wearing them for any longer can put your eyes at risk of damage.

    Dirt builds up on the contacts over time. This will block up the pores on the surface of the contacts which provide oxygen to your eyes. Wearing them will reduce or even cut oxygen supply to your eyes (they need to breathe too) hence they turn red.

    Stop wearing them for a few days for the redness to go away before trying on a new pair. If redness occurs again, then consult your optometrist.


  2. well this can be from over wearing your cl's if you have a two week disposable then it means two weeks.. if you have a monthly lens then it could be just time to change then.. or you might have i rip in one just toss it and put some fresh ones in. you eyes will need rest as well from contacts put your glasses on  if you don't have some get some remember your eyes are covered by contacts they need to breath too.
