Why did my friends grandad pee with the door wide open when he knew i was there?

I was round my mates house for a sleepover and her grandad naturally freaks me out for some reason.

so he came in while we were eatin something and he said hi etc.

a few minutes later i went to the downstairs bathroom and walked through the door which was wide open. and there he was peeing.

he looked at me and causually said, 'theres another bathroom upstairs, you know' and carried on peeing!

why did he leave the door open when i was just down the hallway??

It's probably his normal behavior.  It's fairly common for men and boys to pee with the door open at home.  Quite a few of my guy friends always leave the door open, even when other family members or girlfriends are nearby.  No one seems to care about it, so I guess it's whatever is the norm with your family, friends, and roommates.  Even my best female friend will leave my bathroom door open when she pees and we continue our conversation.  I pee with the door open when I'm alone or with the guys, but close it when women are present.
