Why did my friends illigal cable box stop working?

She has a Panosonic cable box in Rockaway Queens and all of a sudden it stopped working and the screen just has a letter. I forgot what she said but I think it was an E. How can I get it to work again

it is illegal cable

it woudl be illegal for any of us to offer advice and help in getting it working in a pirated or hacked state.

Tell her to pay the cable company. Then it will start working again.

the cable company can turn boxes on or off at will. They can also disconnect from the amplifier and block that port. It takes a special tool to undo the cable block.
